Due to the earthquake that destroyed many of the roads and infrastructure in a mountainous area about 40 km. northeast of San Jose on January 8, 2009, we are sad to announce that since that was one of our main tour routes, our Costa Rica Highlights Tour will not be operating until further notice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families that have lost their homes and their loved ones in those areas
It is important to note that ONLY this area of the country was hit hard by the earthquake. The rest of the country was not affected and tourism activities are back to normal. Experts have determined that the quake was not due to any activity of the local volcanoes but occurred as a result of the sudden movement of a local fault on the lower slopes of the mountain range. La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Peace Lodge received some damage but according to their representatives, will be reopening again by mid 2009.
